Molly Kee

Molly Kee earned her wings, crossing the Rainbow Bridge on April 8, 2024, just hours before the total eclipse.

Thirteen years ago, your dad laid down the law … no more dogs.  So, after a call from a friend telling me how you and your litter mates had been abandoned and she could not find a home for you, I left the house to get a jar of olives.

Your first act when you came home was to jump up and lick your dad’s face.  You became an instant and loved part of our family.  You tore up papers, garbage, and anything else you could find when you were left alone, even though you had the company of other family pets.

You also gave us love.  You welcomed Hudson and watched over him like a nervous mother any time he was around.  You slept in Mom’s bed, under the covers with your head on the pillow, spooned in against her.  You laid at Dad’s feet, walking with him and watch protectively after heart surgery.  You woke Mom more than once when her sugar dropped dangerously low during the night.

When you began to fade the family that you loved tried everything to give you more quality time, but it wasn’t to be.  As you worsened, Mom was in the hospital, worried that she would not get to pet you and tell you how much she loved you just once more.  Somehow, you held on and used the last of your strength to meet Mom at the door, tail wagging, when she came home.  Then you laid down under Allie’s cage while she talked and sang to you as you took your last breaths.

You have made a difference in the lives of Holly and Roger Kee, their family and friends.  It’s so long for now.

You were the best jar of olives we could ever ask for, Molly.
