Alice “Cookie” Marie Ammann, 92, of Marion, formerly of Highland, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Cookie was born on August 12, 1933, in Pocahontas, IL to Henry and Florence (Tischhauser) Haller.
In addition to being a homemaker, Cookie worked at the clock and garment factories before owning and operating Cookie’s Corner, all in Highland. In retirement she was the Breakfast Hostess of the Country Inn and Suites in Marion.
She was a Christian and former member of the Highland Evangelical United Church of Christ and attended Grange Hall Baptist Church in Marion. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially making sure everyone always had plenty to eat.
She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Survivors include- Grandson Michael Blakey and wife Verbal of St. Louis, MO., Grandson Matt Blakey and wife Crystal of Creal Springs, Grandson Mark Blakey and wife Christina of Algonquin, Granddaughter Jamie Zeller-Taylor and husband Nick of Marion, Grandson Dustin Zeller of Marion, Granddaughter April Marion and husband Kevin of North Vernon, IN., Grandson Dennis Streeb of Marion, Granddaughter Michelle (Streeb) Mosher of Marion, Daughter-In-Law Frances Zeller of Marion, Niece Beverly (McFarland) Johnson of Springfield, many great and great-great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Francis “June” Zeller and Russell Ammann, Parents Henry and Florence (Tischhauser) Haller, Brother Norman Haller, Sister Mildred (Haller) McFarland, Son James Zeller, Son Tom Zeller and Daughter Judy Zeller.
Arrangements were entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Hug Cemetery in Pierron, IL.
