Richard Lee Jack, age 69, passed away on December 30, 2025, at his home in Goreville, Illinois. He was born on February 8, 1956, in Elkins, West Virginia.
Known to his friends and family as Rick, he was the son of Doris Hope Jack and Horace M. McClure. Rick lived a life rooted in the outdoors and shaped by a deep appreciation for nature, animals, and family. A skilled and dedicated horseman, Rick had a lifelong love for horses and was most at peace in the saddle or caring for them. His knowledge and connection with horses reflected both patience and respect earned over many years.
Rick also cherished time spent outdoors, particularly working with his hunting dogs. He took great pride and joy in chasing fox and treeing squirrels, valuing not only the sport but the companionship of his dogs and the traditions passed down through generations. These moments in the woods were among his happiest.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Doris Jack; his son, Ryan; and his daughter, Racheal. To his grandchildren—Aidan, Adriahnna, Tucker, Deshawn, Noah, and Ayla—he was lovingly known as “Paw,” a role he cherished deeply.
Rick’s legacy lives on through his family, the memories shared, and the quiet lessons he taught through his love of the land, animals, and the people closest to him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
