Sandra “Sandy” Rakow

Sandra Kay "Sandy" (Morrison) Rakow, 74 years old of Marion, Illinois, formerly of the northern Illinois region, passed away on February 13, 2022, in St. Louis, Missouri. Sandra was born on March 4, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mildred (Polton) Morrison.

Sandra married Donald Rakow on April 25, 1964, and together they shared 58 years of marriage. He survives. From that union, they had one son, Scott A. Rakow. Sandy worked in the real estate industry for many years. Her favorite hobbies included reading, working puzzles, and doing craft projects. She was most fond of spending time at home with her family and loved ones.

Surviving family members include, her husband, Donald Rakow; her son, Scott Rakow; her sister, Barbara Brimm; her niece, Patricia McGuire; her nephew, Brian Kwasniewski, along with other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Morrison; her two brothers, Richard and Edward Morrison.

There will be a time for family and friends to gather at Binkley-Ross Funeral Home, located at 1702 W. Boulevard Street, Marion, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, from 5:00-6:30 PM. Funeral services will begin at 6:30 PM, with Reverend Jeff D. Van Dyke officiating. Private burial will take place on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Rosehill Cemetery.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
