Kenneth Witt

Kenneth E. Witt, age 86, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 29th, 2023, in Carbondale, Illinois. Kenneth was born on September 4th, 1936 in Blue Island, Illinois, to parents Elmer Witt and Ruth Wolz.

Kenneth was a veteran; he served honorably in the National Guard and Army Reserves. Kenneth’s experience in the National Guard and the Reserves played a very important role in his life. Kenneth took his skills and knowledge towards a new career path; working on computers for various parts of the Oil Industry. Later in his life, Kenneth moved to Marion, Illinois and accepted various positions at places like Menards and Home Depot.

Kenneth was a great family man and a loving father and grandfather. He married Carol Hollinger and the couple had five children together.

Kenneth was a very talented hobbyist.  He enjoyed woodworking, often creating beautiful hand-crafted furniture pieces for friends and family. Kenneth also enjoyed working on stained glass, creating model railroads and trains, and even built an entire boat from scratch.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Carol, his children David (Ruth), Bryan (Diane), Steven, and Kevin (Debbie). He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren: Michael (Tina), Alex (Alicia), Cassie (Edward), Brandon, Ryan, Kaelyn and Matthew (Karen); as well as his 3 great grandchildren Austin, Eddie, and Emilia. Kenneth is preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, his father, Elmer, and his daughter, Caryn. His family and friends will always remember him as a hardworking, dedicated person. May He Rest In Peace.

Binkley Ross Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. There will be a time of visitation held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 1801 Westminster Drive, Marion, Illinois. Memorial service to begin at 11:00 AM.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kenneth’s life.
