Obituary

Edward W. Treat, age 88 years, a resident of Marion, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023,
at 3:30 PM at Herrin Hospital.


Edward was born September 8, 1934, in Ozark, Illinois. He was the 6th of 10 children born to William “Clarence” and Blanche (Breeden) Treat.


On May 14, 1955, Edward was united in marriage to Margaret Sue Thomas in Johnson County.


Edward is survived by a son Stanley (Mary) Treat of Ozark, Illinois, Daughter Rhonda (Bob) Moore of Lees Summit, Missouri; Daughter Kim (Doug) Keim of Tunnel Hill, Illinois and Daughter Tammy (Scott) Patterson of Goreville, Illinois.

In addition to his 4 children, Edward is survived by 8 grandchildren. Ryan (Rachel) Moore of Blue Springs, Missouri; Justin (Myra) Rogowski of Marion, Illinois; Brandon (Emilie) Rogowski; of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; Andrew (Rachelle) Keim of Cambria, Illinois; Brittany (Jason) Robertson of Tunnel Hill, Illinois; Erik (Hailee) Moore of Lees Summit, Missouri; Kyle (Kassey) Patterson of Marion, Illinois; and Garrett (Alyssa) Patterson of Goreville, Illinois. He also leaves behind 18 great grandchildren! Edward is also survived by one brother( Harry Lee Treat) of New Burnside, Illinois; three sisters in law( Doris Treat, Brenda Treat and Marybell Treat of Ozark, Illinois) He also has many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by: his wife, Margaret Sue Treat; 4 sisters-Kathern Douglas, Mary Williams, Joann Cluster and Judy Treat; 4 brothers- Jim, Bill, Ken and Donnie Treat; a son in law- David Rogowski and 2 grandchildren- David Kevin Rogowski Jr. and Ashlee Nicole Moore.

Edward was employed as an operating engineer. He was a 50 + year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #318 at Marion, Illinois. Edward also served as Johnson County Highway Foreman and Johnson County Commissioner (1975-1978).

Edward was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved playing his banjo and had a great love for bluegrass music.

Funeral services for Edward will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Binkley - Ross Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois. Visitation from 10:00 - 12:00 with funeral services following, with Rev. Bob Moore and Rev. R.G. Walls officiating. Entombment will follow at Wise-Robinson Cemetery, north of Ozark, Illinois.

In lieu of customary remembrances the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to the Fellowship Lodge #89.
