William Rains

William Bill Rains, 74, of Marion passed away at 12:35 P.M. on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Fountains Nursing Home. Bill was born on November 24, 1928 in Marion, to Lloyd & Reba (Chamness) Rains. He Married Martha Luther on July 12, 1975 in Daytona, Florida, she passed away March 21, 1999. Survivors include: Son and daughter-in-law: Bobby & Shirley Rains-Marion Daughter & son-in-law: Rhonda & Keith Soldner-Marion Five Grandchildren: Cindy (Scott) Lentz-Sesser, IL. Michelle (Sean) Hayes-Naperville, IL. Kevin (Rachel) Soldner-Marion Scott(Chasity) Rains-Marion Tena (Chuck) Albright-Marion Ten great grandchildren Sister: Jane Edwards-Marion Nephew: Melvin Edwards Jr.-Marion His parents, his wife and a son, Benny Rains, preceded Bill in death. Bill was a guard at the United States Penitentiary and retired in 1989. He was a member of the Marion Eagles, the Illinois Police Association and the American Federation of Government Employees. Bill was a member of the Third Baptist Church of Marion. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Kramer officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service on Saturday.
