William Ray Elliott

William “Bill” Ray Elliott, age 76, passed away on April 10, 2026, at his home.

Bill was born on May 25, 1949, in Marion, Illinois, to William Earl and Wanda Lou (Launius) Elliott. He proudly served in the United States Army before returning home to Southern Illinois. After receiving an honorable discharge, he began his career as a coal miner, a profession he remained dedicated to throughout his life.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature. He enjoyed hunting and was a dedicated gun collector, passions he carried throughout his life.

He is survived by his son, William “Bill” (Pam) Elliott; and his nieces, Candy Atnip, Kelly Atnip, and Shannon Castaneda.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Sharon (John) Atnip.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley‑Ross. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Friends are welcome to arrive a few minutes early to gather at the cemetery.
