William Ray Connelley, passed away on September 12, 2025, at his home in Marion. He was born July 27, 1999, in Carbondale, Illinois, He was the beloved son of Scott Connelley and Leva (Long) Brown and will be remembered for his laughter, wit, and the many ways he brought joy to those around him.
William worked as a laborer at a local tape manufacturing company. During his high school years, he was especially proud to be part of the Madrigals, performing for four years and even singing with his choir in New York City. Music was just one of his many talents.
A gamer at heart, William could often be found playing Destiny, Call of Duty, or Minecraft, where he built lasting friendships with a close-knit group of gaming buddies. He was also impressively skilled at solving speed cubes and always loved showing off how quickly he could figure them out. Known as a jokester and prankster, he had a gift for keeping people smiling. William and his mom shared a special bond as “foodies,” always enjoying trying new things together.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Leva and Curtis Brown Jr.; his father, Scott Connelley; his sister, Ashlyn Connelley; his grandmother, Elnora Long; along with other cherished relatives, friends, and his special gaming community. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Danny Long.
In keeping with William’s wishes, cremation will take place, and a private life celebration will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to Finding Forever Animal Rescue.
