William “Bill” Joseph Merrow II

William Joseph “Bill” Merrow II,  age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories for those who knew and loved him.

Bill was born on December 24, 1946, in Princeton, Indiana, the son of William J. Merrow and Catherine L. (Thompson) Merrow. He married the love of his life, Dianna L. Merrow, and together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and the love they shared.

Bill worked as a chemist at a nuclear power plant, a career that reflected his intelligence and dedication. He was of the Baptist faith and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. His family lovingly described him as a “kindhearted teddy bear.” He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm heart, and caring nature.

He enjoyed muscle cars, Garfield the Cat, and animals—especially his beloved grand-dog, Gracie. He also loved feeding and watching the squirrels, which brought him great joy. Bill was very money-conscious and took pride in making wise financial decisions. He could also often be found enjoying one of his favorite drinks, an A&W Sugar-Free Root Beer. Above all, Bill treasured the time he shared with his family, and the love he had for them was evident in everything he did.

Bill is survived by his sons, Ronald Merrow and Michael Merrow; grandchildren, Samantha Mancil, Alixandra Rentauskas, and Troy Merrow; 3 great-grandchildren, Samiya Mancil, Sienna Merrow, and Thomas Winters Merrow. Siblings, Susan Doris and Thomas Merrow; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianna Merrow; his parents, William J. Merrow and Catherine L. (Thompson) Merrow; his stepmother, Nell Rose Merrow; and his beloved granddaughter, Megan Merrow.

Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle nature, and deep love for his family. Although he will be greatly missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends for years to come.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Blue Funeral Home, located at 1704 North Court Street in Marion. The funeral service will begin at noon, with Pastor Ralph Brandon officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
