Wanda Lee Shelton, 65, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on February 20, 1961, in Marion, Illinois, to Robert B. Sandusky and Phyllis (Burklow) Sandusky.
Wanda spent her life caring for others. She earned her certification as a CNA and worked as a direct support professional for Progress Port and at Mattingly Nursing Home.
Outside of work, Wanda enjoyed the simple things. She loved crossword puzzles, playing rummy, and settling in with her favorite television shows, Leave It to Beaver, The Andy Griffith Show, and The Beverly Hillbillies. She never missed the Super Bowl and was always ready for game day. Wanda also spent six years bowling in the Marion Bowling League and attended the Baptist Church in Marion.
She is survived by her son, John Allen Shelton; her daughter, Amber Dawn (Brandon) Copple; her grandchildren, Brent Shelton, Jordan M. Rector, and Dylan S. Rector; and her great-grandchildren, Lunden Rose Rector and Zeke Kashton Coke.
Wanda is also survived by her siblings, Gary Sandusky, Linda Kay Sandusky, Kendra Sandusky, Robert Jr. Sandusky, David Sandusky, and Tina Sandusky; her niece, Samantha Jo Nicholson; her nephews, Anthony Shane Sandusky, and Edward E. Nicholson III; and her cousin, Preston Palmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas “Kelly” Shelton.
In accordance with Wanda’s wishes, she will be cremated and no services will be held.
