Blest to be born into a family of loving Christian parents, Wanda Lou Powers Shoukletovich Cohoon, was born at home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on December 28, 1935, to J. Marvin and Helen Lucille Powers. While at home in Marion, Illinois with family by her side, she passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on March 14, 2026.

Wanda grew up with music in her soul singing duets and solos at a young age. In high school, she had first chair oboe in both orchestra and band. She attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri when it was still a girl’s school.

She married Milosh Shoukletovich in 1956 and together they had three children who survive her. Susan Shoukletovich (Gary) Fowler of Marion, IL; Shawn (Toni) Shoukletovich of Marion, IL; Mark Shoukletovich of Herrin, IL.

As a young wife and loving mother, she supported her husband as he pastored several churches across Southern Illinois sharing her beautiful voice in praise and Biblical knowledge in testimony to her strong faith. When her family moved to Marion, IL in 1972, they established active membership at Aldersgate Methodist Church. There she instilled the important value of church affiliation which took root as several generations of family have continued and begun their membership there.

Wanda supported her children in all their school and sporting activities serving as Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, PTA president, home room Mother, and cheering section leader for all games and performances. Her professional career included bank secretary, dental assistant and office manager, and secretary to Chief of Surgery at VA Medical Center in Marion.

In 1981, Wanda married “my Sweetheart and love of my life” Charles Roy Cohoon, who preceded her to heaven in 2022. They enjoyed 41 years together traveling, gardening, fishing, and golfing. Spending time with family on beach vacations and golf tournament reunions were highlights in memory making for them. Wanda cherished family holiday celebrations and traditions especially Christmas, Easter, and birthdays.

Wanda and Chuck were active members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Marion, IL where Wanda served for several years as congregational secretary and choir director.

Wanda was most proud of her 7 beautiful granddaughters who survive her. Jessica (Doug) Corzine, Karon (Jack) Collom, Kristen (Nick) Riem, Mallory (Nick) Marzano, Madison (Jacob) Rowland, Brittani (David) Dadisman, and Brianna (Anthony) Herr.

They filled her life and heart with 9 Great Grandchildren all who had the honor of knowing their “Ga.” Cassie, Cameran, Caroline, Turner, Garrett, Chandon, Luke, Carlee, and Oakley.

Wanda’s nurturing spirit and loving instincts welcomed Chuck’s children into her embrace; Charlotte Reed, Judy Gallagher, and Jeanne Marsh who survive her. She also treasured her relationship with Chuck’s Grandchildren who survive her: Steven Cox who was especially close to her, Stephanie Cable, Amanda Adams, Eric Adams, Alexandra Snow, and Benjamen Snow and great grandchildren Megan, Mason, Zach, Ethan, Riley, and Ava. Wanda is also survived by loving nieces and nephews especially Karen Lynn, Michael, and Tiffany; her “second daughter” Jennifer Adams, long time neighbor and friend Marlene Weaver, and several close friends from Good Shepherd.
