Terry Loring

Terry Allen Loring, 89, passed away on August 22, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 23, 1937, in Canton, Illinois, the son of Earl T. Loring and Dorothy A. Fey.

Terry spent his career with Southern Illinois Power, where he worked as a systems analyst. Outside of work, he enjoyed researching his family history and genealogy, reading, woodworking, attending Corvette shows, and sharing morning coffee with his buddies at Kokopelli.

He was a member of Pittsburgh Free Will Baptist Church and served as a past president of the local Corvette Club.

Terry is survived by his son, Jeff Loring and wife Sandy; daughter, Tami Barnes; first wife, Jo Nell (Webb) Havens; grandchildren, Dustin (Kim) Loring, Logan Barnes, Kennedy (Josh) Rebman, and Landon Barnes; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is also survived by his nieces, Beckie (Duane) Bean, Leslie Loki, and Stephanie Loring; additional members of his blended family, Bruce (Teena) Mayhew and Mike (Pam) Mayhew; grandchildren, Mark (Heather) Mayhew, Melissa (Tyson) Moore, Heather (Kyle) Doughty, and Hollie Mayhew; eight great-grandchildren; and his good friend, Ron (Kay) High.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Loring; his brother, Pete Loring; sister-in-law, Monnie Loring; and niece, Debbie.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Blue Funeral Home, 1704 North Court Street in Marion, from 12:00 p.m. until 12:30 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Donelson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Finding Forever Animal Rescue. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Terry’s family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the emergency medical team and the Marion Police Department for the compassion and care they showed while assisting Terry and his family.
