Susan Lynn Simer

Herrin- Susan Lynn Simer, 55, of Herrin, passed away at 5:10 AM, Friday, February 29, 2008 at Herrin Hospital. Susan was born on March 26, 1952 in Fairfield to Robert & Jane (Jones) Abbey. She met John R. Simer at a class educating Illinois state mental health techs. She married him shortly after on February 5, 1971 in Dixon, IL. He survives of Herrin. Mrs. Simer was a homemaker in her own home and formerly worked as a waitress at Dog & Suds in Carmi. She was a patient person who enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and painting. She enjoyed her family & spent time junking and looking for sales, she was known as the Coupon Queen. She ran her own computer business and frequented local yard sales. Survivors include- Husband- John R. Simer of Herrin Mother- Jane Wiwchar of Carmi Father- Robert Abbey of Carmi Son & daughter in law- Chrystapher Todd & Ronda Simer of Johnston City Daughter & son in law- Tina & James Reames of Carbondale Grandchild- Jenny Dean of Johnston City & one on the way Brother- Harold Abbey of Carmi Brother & sister in law- Kevin & Vickie Abbey of Las Vegas, NV Sister & brother in law- Rhonda & Richard Knight of Carmi Several nieces & nephews and many cousins She was preceded in death by her step father- Steve Wiwchar and infant sister- Candy Kay Abbey. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2008 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Don Colson will officiate. An hour of gathering will be from 4:00 PM until time of service, Monday at the funeral home. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is handling memorial arrangements.
