Steve G. Wiggs

Herrin - Steve Wiggs, 32, died at 8:05 a. m. on Thursday, May 10, 2001 at his home. Mr. Wiggs was born October 13, 1968 in Marion, IL to Claude "Gene" & Pauletta (McGee) Wiggs. He was a 1986 Herrin High School Graduate. After high school Stephen obtained his mechanics training from Nashville Auto/Diesel College. Steve worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Vernell's Interstate Wrecker Service in Marion for close to eight years. In his spare time Steve enjoyed the outdoors and was a member of the Fin & Feather Club in Freeman Spur. He was either fishing with his buddies or teaching his Golden Retriever "Hunter" to hunt. He was also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. SURVIVORS: Mother- Pauletta Wiggs- Marion Father- Gene Wiggs- Herrin Maternal Grandparents- Paul & Gene McGee- Marion Bro & sis in law- Scott & Trisha Wiggs- Herrin Sis & bro in law- Melissa & John Gibson- Zeigler Bro & girlfriend- Darren Wiggs of Marion & Angie Dasher Bro & girlfriend- Shane Wiggs of Marion & Amber Pedigo 5 Nieces & nephews: Baker & Kayla Wiggs- Herrin Arika, PJ, & Sam Gibson- Zeigler Golden Retriever- "Hunter" His paternal grandparents preceded him in death. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Rev. Jerry Schell will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Carbondale. Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Friday, May 11, 2001 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Lone Oak Baptist Church- Building Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
