Sally A Taylor

August 24, 1955 — August 8, 2025

Marion

Sally Ann Taylor, 69, of Marion, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home on August 8, 2025. Sally was born on August 24, 1955, to Frank and Ludene (Graves) Burnett in Valparaiso, Indiana.

She grew up spending her time between Marion, Illinois and Valparaiso, Indiana. Sally was a very dedicated and caring registered nurse for 28 years. She started her career as a unit secretary at Marion Memorial Hospital and went on to become an RN where she would work at Carbondale Memorial Hospital for many years. She retired from Prairie Heart Institute and was very much loved by all who worked with her and knew her.

She leaves behind many family members that include her daughter and son-in law, Bobbie Taylor and Brenden Caronongan of Paducah, Kentucky, her son, David Taylor of Marion, Illinois, her daughter Donna (Tony) Pinto of Monterey, Tennessee, and her son, Jerry Taylor of Marion, Illinois. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Corey (Micaela) Baltzell of Johnston, Illinois, Justin Baltzell of Carterville, Illinois, Garrett (Ashley) Baltzell of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Drake Baltzell of Marion, Illinois, Breyer Taylor of Marion, Illinois, and Cole Taylor of Marion, Illinois. She was a great-grandmother to Maverick and Maddox Baltzell of Johnston City, Illinois and Jasmyn Baltzell of Fort Knox, Kentucky. She was survived by three siblings, Frank Burnett of Pittsburg, Illinois, Kevin Smith of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Keith Smith of Miller Beach, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her son, Joseph Robert Taylor; and her siblings Pat Knipe, Bobby Gene Burnett, Mike Burnett, and Debbie Burnett.

Sally will always be remembered for her compassion for others and her willingness to always give her all. She had the biggest heart so anyone who knew her would never go without. She enjoyed spending her free time being a super-sleuth, investigating conspiracy theories and other worldly phenomena. Her family takes comfort in memories of her doomsday prepping with beef jerky and water among many other things. She had a habit of giving all the beef jerky to her grandsons and then having to buy more. She will be missed dearly.
