Roy Dale Edmonds of Mulkeytown, Illinois, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Deaconess of Illinois. He was born on December 19, 1946, in Christopher, Illinois, the son of Robert and Ruth (Cook) Edmonds.
On June 6, 1981, Roy married Brenda Kay MacFarland in West Frankfort, Illinois, and together they shared 45 years of marriage.
Roy served his country in the National Guard. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Carbondale for 20 years as a dock expeditor. Farming was also a large part of Roy’s life. He served in Farming for Riverside Farms for several years and farmed corn and soybeans both on his own land and for others. Over the years, he also raised cattle and hogs on his farm.
A quiet man by nature, Roy enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved fishing in his pond, and after retirement, he spent many hours tending to his garden, fruit trees, and vegetables.
Roy was a member of the Farm Bureau and attended the Church of Mimer in Mulkeytown, Illinois.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Edmonds of Mulkeytown; his daughter, Amanda Teel of Johnston City; his son, Charles Edmonds and Cortney (Wawczak) of Zeigler; four grandchildren, Alicia Teel of Johnston City, Katelynn Wawczak of Zeigler, Madison Teel of Johnston City, and Jackson Teel of Johnston City; his great-grandson, Levi Teel; his sister-in- law Kimbra (Janello) Edmonds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Edmonds, and his siblings, Robert J. Edmonds, Reba (Edmonds) Hilty and husband David, and Nancy (Edmonds) Rice and husband Jerry.
