Roger Slater, born June 8, 1953, passed away on April 10, 2026, leaving behind memories with those who knew him.

Roger was the son of Buford and Doris Slater. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Harrington, her husband, Tracy Harrington, and by his granddaughters, Brittney Harrington, her fiancé, Zach, and Caitlin Harrington, her significant other, Isaac.

Roger shared a special companionship with Pam, whose family was part of his life, including her son Stephen and her late son Robbie.

Roger worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 702. He took pride in his trade and the work he did throughout his career.

A talented musician, Roger had a deep love for music and played several instruments, including the steel guitar and bass. Music was an important part of his life and something he spent many years enjoying.

He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching football.

Roger will be remembered for his musical talents and the role he played in the lives of those who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley Ross. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Blue Funeral Home, 1704 North Court Street, Marion, Illinois. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
