Roger D Killman

November 3, 1950 — June 14, 2023

Marion

Roger D. Killman, 72 of Marion, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the VA Medical Center, Community Living Center, surrounded by the love of his family.

Roger was born on November 3, 1950, the son of Perry and Wanda Killman. He was a lifetime resident of Marion and was very proud of where he was from.  Roger married the love of his life, Mary Castellano, on October 30, 1970.  Together they shared almost 53 years of marriage. Mr. Killman joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970.  He served our grateful Nation during the Vietnam War and was later honorably discharged in 1977.

Roger built many beautiful homes in our area while owning RK Construction for over 30 years.  He was known for his kindness and generosity. He would give anyone the shirt off his own back or his last dollar, if he thought they truly needed it. His family recalls that he always took care of his family well.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, outdoor camping, and most importantly, dancing, especially to Rocky Top.  He was baptized at Whiteash Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the Marion VFW Post 1301 and the Marion American Legion Post 147.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Killman; his daughters, Jeri (Duke) Rothe, Jennifer Killman, and Nikki (Michael) Dietz; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, his sister, Sue Valentine, and his two four legged buddies, Fancy and Kiki.

He is predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Delores Mitchem, Margaret Hohimer; his brother, Bob Killman; his brother-in-law, Tommy Valentine; and his grandson, Tyler Rath.
