Robert Michael Cochrane, affectionately known as Mick, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, with his loving wife and daughters at his side.
Mick was born in Champaign, Illinois on February 12, 1949, to James and Alice Cochrane. He married Lorna Teter and together they shared 54 wonderful years.
Mick was employed by Illinois Central Railroad and later by Amtrak as a Conductor where many of his co-workers refer to him as a legend.
He was a dedicated Elks member, known for his steady presence, warm smile, and sense of humor.
Mick is survived by his wife Lorna, daughters Brandi Hennessey (Rob) and Christie (Mike) Sanders all of Marion. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Shelbie Herring, Halle Hennessey (Sean), Emily Sanders, Grayson Sanders and Alex (Jen) Weber, along with his siblings Jim (Debbie) Cochrane, Mary Alice (Paul) Hughes, and Theresa Cochrane. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bill and Phil Cochrane.
Binkley-Ross Funeral Home has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements. A celebration of life will be held at the Marion Elks on May 17, 2025, at 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Marion Elks 800 Veterans Program.
