Peggy Marie (Boner) Stephens, age 92, passed away on July 7, 2026, at Herrin Hospital. She was born on October 26, 1933, to Ralph Boner and Vera (Hoebbel) Boner in Pittsburg, Illinois.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vera Boner; her husband, Jack Stephens; and her brothers, Clifford Boner and Charles Boner and grandson Stan Roan.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter, Debbie (Lann) Richmond, and son, Alan (Melody) Ozment. She also leaves behind her sister, Joann (Alan) Beck, and her brother, Mike (Karen) Bonner. Peggy was blessed with grandchildren: Alisha (Josh) Newton, Hank Roan, Teresa (Dale) Stanley, Tammy (Joshua) Stein, Scott (Jennifer) Roan, and Stephanie (Corey) Thomas, as well as great-grandchildren: Kole Newton, Skylar Roan, Tanner Roan, Rachel Roan, Katie Roan, Timothy Serles, Tyson Serles, Emily Capes, Rebekah Stein, Caleb Stein, and Josiah Stein. Peggy cherished her several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Peggy enjoyed a fulfilling career in retail sales. A devoted Christian, she dedicated herself to serving the Lord through the Ezra Church/Christian School and the First Church of God in West Frankfort, Illinois. She was an active member of the Church of God and found joy in spending time with her family and friends.
Peggy’s life was marked by her faith and love of family. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Guests are invited to arrive at the cemetery shortly before 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Residential Hospice.
