Paula Jo Allen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paula Jo Allen, who departed this life on May 30, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on July 15, 1951, in Illinois, Paula was a radiant presence whose warmth, style, and spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Paula was the beloved mother of Gabriel Burks and Roman Allen, and a proud grandmother to Quincy Allen, Noah Williams, Kaynen Reliford, and Ayla Stelle. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and the time they spent together was among her greatest joys. Her bond with her son Roman was especially close—best friends in every way. Paula’s love for both of her children was unwavering and deeply rooted in the strength of a mother’s heart.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Michael Pickens, Billy Pickens (Lolita), Jeffrey Pickens (Jamie), and Debra Pickens, along with a host of nieces and nephews who adored their Aunt Paula as much as she adored them.

Paula was preceded in death by her cherished mother Esther Marie Pickens, her brother George Pickens, her beloved sisters JoAnn Pickens, Geri Moultrie, and her beloved niece Courtney Jo Allen.

A true original, Paula was known for her blonde wigs, red lips, and high heels—her signature style that made her unforgettable. She had a magnetic personality and lit up every room she walked into. With a bold heart, fierce fashion, and a spirit full of life, Paula Jo Allen was that IT girl.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered with immense love, laughter, and gratitude. An intimate memorial service in honor of Paula’s life was held on Saturday June 7th, at 2 pm at the Goddard Chapel in Marion. Immediately following services a reception to celebrate her life will be held at Smokin’ K”s BBQ and Cajun Cuisine, located at 1000 N Carbon St, Suite L, Marion, IL 62959.
