Paul Steven “Steve” Wilson, 73, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026. He was born on October 3, 1952, in Carbondale, Illinois, the son of Paul H. Wilson and Mildred Virginia (Strobel) Wilson.
Steve married Joellen “Jodie” Davis on March 17, 1972, and together they built a life centered on family, and creating lasting memories.
Steve worked as a skilled carpenter before becoming a licensed real estate broker. One of his proudest accomplishments was earning his real estate broker’s license just after turning 21, at the time being one of the youngest people in the State of Illinois to do so. He was a designated managing broker at Paul Wilson Realty in Marion. Throughout his career, he was an active member of the National Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors, and the Egyptian Board of Realtors, where he also served as past president. Steve was also the owner of Southern Illinois Cabinet company.
An outdoorsman at heart, Steve loved hunting and fishing in his younger years. He especially enjoyed trips to Kentucky Lake and Crab Orchard, but some of his most treasured memories were made fishing with his grandson, Nicholas, at the Lake of Egypt.
Family was the center of Steve’s life. He and Jodie looked forward each year to riding their Harley-Davidson to Clarksville, Tennessee, to participate in the annual Toy Run, helping deliver toys and candy to children during the Christmas season.
Steve is survived by his wife, Jodie Wilson; his daughter, Lisa (Wilson) Thielges and her husband John; his grandson, Nicholas Thielges; his siblings Beth Wilson, Becky (Wilson) Boyd and her husband Larry; his sister in law April (Davis) VanVoorhis and her husband John; numerous nieces and nephews; great- nieces and great-nephews; and other cherished family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and his sister-in-law Connie (Davis) Heiple.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Binkley-Ross Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Marion. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.binkleyross.com . Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Southern Illinois at 204 Halfway Road in Marion.
