West Frankfort- Norman A. Strunk, 54, of West Frankfort died at 12:35 P.M., Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at his home. Mr. Strunk was born on January 9, 1947 in Whiteash, IL to Murray "Bud" & Blanche (Harris) Strunk. He worked for West Frankfort Awning and was a skilled ironworker; making railings and staircases for various businesses. Norman enjoyed traveling, especially to the Smokey Mountains and liked country western and Elvis Presley music. Survivors: Sis & bro in law- Connie & Ron Absher, Jr.- Herrin Brother- Charles "Junior" Strunk- Whiteash, IL Sis & bro in law- Thelma & Jerral Edmondson- Marion Sis & bro in law- Jennie & Everett Hilliard- Thompsonville Sister- Shirley Ann Strunk sisters: Betty Roberta Harris- Indiana Lillian Strunk- Colorado Close nephews & nieces: Steve & Bryce Strunk- Whiteash Mark Strunk- Texas Ronnie Absher- Energy Nichole Absher- Marion Many other nieces, nephews, & grt. nieces and nephews Close Friends- Anita & Davelin- Marion His parents preceded him in death. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 30, 2001, at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion. Rev. Don Emery, pastor of The Rugged Cross Chapel of West Frankfort. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of arrangements.
