Minnie Loretta Holmes

Minnie "Loretta" (Reynolds) Holmes, 80, of Marion, IL passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 12:00 pm. She was born in Stonefort, IL on December 15, 1944, the daughter of Loyd and Lucille Reynolds.

Loretta was a graduate of Carrier Mills High School. She married the love of her life, William R. (Ron) Holmes on August 3, 1962. Loretta was a homemaker corralling three ornery boys, loved spending time with her family, was a devoted wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She will be missed.

She was a member of Walnut Hill Freewill Baptist Church for 48 years where she served as treasurer, clerk, song leader and had a passion for singing with her church family. She was also a member of the ‘Order of The Eastern Stars’ for the past 51 years. She is survived by her husband, Ron Holmes; three sons: Basil (Lisa) Holmes of Jackson, MO, Tim Holmes of Harrisburg, IL and Eric (Chrissy) Holmes of Creal Springs, IL; two sisters, Mary- Belle Treat of Ozark, IL and Katie Lollar of Stonefort, IL; grandchildren; Mandy (Richard) Brooks, Lindsay Holmes (Jamie Bingham), Brittany Brauner, Trey (Samatha) Holmes, Clayton Holmes, Hannah (Amos) Beasley, Tristin (Erin) Holmes, Katherine Holmes, Samuel Holmes, great- grandchildren; Cayley (Michael) Bradshaw, Isaiah, Caitlyn, William, Bailey, Harlow, Henley, Atlas, Rookie, Ella, Lainey, Kinsley and great-great grandchildren; Kya and Kyson along with several nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Betty Rushing, Martha Canada, Bill Reynolds and Wayne Reynolds. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Blue Funeral Home located 1704 N. Court St. Marion, IL. Additional visitation will be held Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:00am to 10:00am. Services will begin at 10:00am with Pastors Keith Owens, Eric Holmes, and Jerry Schell officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Creal Springs.
