Matthew Macdonald Smothers

Matthew Macdonald Smothers, 46, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 8:30 P.M. at Barnes-Jewish Cancer Center in St. Louis. Matt was born April 28, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri the only child of Dr. Donald L. & Patricia L. (Fry) Smothers. Matt loved to spend time with his son and to ride his Harley Davidson. He worked as a machinist at Marsh Company, he was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by his: Parents Dr. Donald & Patricia Smothers of Marion Son Dalton L. Smothers of Marion Uncle Don Fry of Crab Orchard Uncle & Aunt Steven & Valerie Fry of Crab Orchard Several Cousins Preceded by Paternal Grandparents - Everett "Mack" & Iva Smothers and Maternal Grandparents - Leo & Loudene Fry. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Frankie Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
