Mary Marlene Calhoon

Goreville-Mary Marlene Calhoon, 73, of Goreville, passed away at 12:36 AM on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at her home with her husband by her side. Funeral services for Mary will be on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at McKinney Chapel Church in Goreville with Reverends Kenny Blumenstock & Dale Billingsley officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available during the services or may be sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Mary was born on Sunday, May 29, 1938 in Williamson County to Clarence & Nelly (McCormick) Crites. She married Dale Calhoon on Friday, October 1, 1965 in Goreville; they had just celebrated their 46th anniversary. Survivors include devoted husband, Dale; children, Mitzi & Mike Moore and Brian & Tenia Calhoon all of Goreville; grandchildren, Ashley Taylor Calhoon, Jacob Oren Calhoon, Joshua Dale Calhoon, Kaitlynn Brianna Moore and Kailey Elizabeth Moore; brothers, Stanley & Holly Crites of Herrin and Jerry Crites of Marion & sister, Violetta Knowles of Goreville. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Calhoon loved to garden, polish her “green-thumb” by raising flowers and she especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. Mary was a member of McKinney Chapel Church in Goreville, where she will be laid to rest in the Church’s cemetery.
