MARY ELLAN NEWELL Herrin Mary Ellan Newell, 66, died at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 02, 2003 at Herrin Hospital. Mary was born May 27, 1937 to Leslie and Mary Elizabeth (Goodwin) Murray in Herrin. She married Myron David Newell Sr on November 22, 1956 in Herrin and he survives in Herrin. Mary was a homemaker. During WWII she worked at Olin and later worked at Disney World. She was of the Protestant faith. Survivors include: Father Leslie Murray of Herrin Daughter Deborah Smith of Herrin Son Joseph Scott and wife Marietta of New Orleans, LA Son Charles Richard Newell of Joliet, IL Grandchildren Eight (8) Great Grandchildren Four (4) Brother Leslie Murray Jr of St. Louis, MO Sister Betty Benchoff of Lincoln, IL Sister Dessie Baggett and husband Mike of Clarksville, TN Several Nieces and Nephews Proceeded by - Mother, 1 infant son Funeral services will be Saturday, October 04, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Don Colson officiating. Burial will follow in Denning Cemetery in Orient. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.
