Mary Genevieve Baldwin

Mary Genevieve Baldwin, age 91, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at her home in Marion, Illinois.

Mary was born December 16, 1931 in Scottsboro, a daughter of Charlie and Loretta (Hays) Watson. She married Garland Baldwin in Marion, IL in 1964. Mary had worked at Flukes Restaurant in Marion as a cook and worked at Marion Memorial Hospital in housekeeping for 6 years. She also cleaned residential homes in the area (especially the Vienna area) for 38 years. Mary enjoyed fishing, tending to her house plants, family get-togethers on holidays, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Lily M. Cotner of Marion, IL and Mary Owens of Hyde, PA; one brother, Charlie (Shirley) Watson of Johnston City, IL; and her 13 Grandchildren, 22 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Garland Baldwin; two children, Joann Groves and Herbert Gibbons; her parents, Charlie and Loretta Watson; and 10 Brothers & Sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 15th, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 11:00 AM at Mitchell Hughes Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.
