Lillie B. Gelgut

Herrin- Lillie B. (Arnold) Gelgut, 82, of Herrin, formerly of Johnston City, passed away at 7:45 PM, Friday, August 19, 2005 at her home with her family. Lillie was born on Johnny Bull Hill in Johnston City on March 31, 1923 to I.E. & Anna (Kohut) Arnold. She married Kaessy Gelgut on July 6, 1945 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1993. She formerly worked as a service manager for Jewel Foods for fifteen years and then for five years as a learning disability aide in the Oak Forest School District. Mrs. Gelgut was a member of the Herrin First Christian Church and loved watching UK basketball. SURVIVORS: Daughter & son in law- Karen & John DuPerier- Herrin Son & daughter in law- John C. & Melanie Gelgut- Marion Grandchildren: Kaci Shea Monteith- Herrin John Mark Gelgut- Marion Kalyn Gelgut- Marion Sister- Virginia Hadley- Lexington, KY Several nieces & nephews Good Friends: Paul & Mabel Jones- Herrin Betty Burgess- Herrin Jean Nasser- Herrin She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters; Beth Schauer & Lucille Novak, and one brother in law; Alvin Hadley. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Herrin City Cemetery. Rev. Ron Henwood will officiate. Inurnment will follow.
