Sammy Hester MARION-Sammy Hester, 73, of Marion passed away at 2:40 PM, Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at Helia Healthcare in Energy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Paul Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Friday, December 16, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post #1301 and American Legion Post #147. Mr. Hester was born on September 18, 1932 in Marion, Illinois to Paul and Cecile F. (Lee) Hester. He married Margie Hester on March 9, 1953 in Marion; she preceded him in death on December 5, 2000. Survivors include daughter, Debbie K. Hester; son, Ricky L. Hester; grandchildren, Michael, Derek, Paul, Kyle and Bryan; sister, Myrtle Marie Doss; brother, John Hester; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Eloise Lentz and Mable Jones; mother-in-law, Edna Mathis; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Zemke and Paul Jones. Mr. Hester owned and operated Hester Painting and Decorating for many years. He was a member of the Painters Union, the Marion Yacht Club and several fishing organizations.
