Lela B. Emery

Carterville- Lela B. Emery, 65, of Carterville, died at 3:20 AM, Friday, February 22, 2002 at her home. Lela was born on August 31, 1936 in Blairsville to Floyd & Julia Elizabeth (Atterberry) Dixon. She married Delmar Emery on September 21, 1979 in Herrin. He survives of Carterville. Mrs. Emery was a civil service worker for Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She was of Pentecostal faith. SURVIVORS: Husband- Delmar Emery- Carterville Son & dtr in law- Jim & Denise Halley, Jr.- Colp Grandchildren: Jason, Joshua, & Jarrett Halley- Colp Great Grandchildren- Hunter Drake Halley- Patoka Step Children: Adele Earline Emery & husband Tom Tucker- St. Louis, MO John Delmar Emery & wife Trish- Herrin Step Grandchild- John Delmar Emery, Jr.- Herrin Step Grandchild- James Daniel Emery- Herrin Bro & sis in law- Carl & Esther Dixon- Cambria Bro & sis in law- Earl & Judy Dixon- Cambria Sister- Helen Davis- Herrin Sister & bro in law- Opal & John Fields- Cambria Bro in law- Jack Cain- Herrin Sis in law- Cecil Dixon- Cambria Several nieces & nephews Her parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded her in death. The funeral service will be held at 1:30PM, Monday, February 25, 2002 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin. Pastor Dorothy Cook will officiate. Burial will follow at Blairsville Cemetery.
