Kent A. "Cricket" Edwards

Herrin- KENT ALAN "Cricket" EDWARDS, age 53, of Herrin, passed away at 8:20pm on Friday, May 8, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. Kent was born in Paducah, KY on September 13, 1955, the son of Clyde LaVerne and Velma Deloris (Castleman) Edwards. Kent was a welder for Peabody Coal Company in Steeleville and a truck driver for Teamsters Local #347 out of West Frankfort, which he was also a member. He was active with the American Cancer Society and was a member of the UMWA. Survivors include his father- Clyde LaVerne Edwards of Herrin, IL Brother- Clifford and Carol Bohlman of Peoria, IL Sister- Dee Barnes of Herrin, IL Four Nephews, Two Nieces, Two Aunts, and Cousins Kent was preceded in death by his Mother- Velma Deloris Edwards and a brother- Norman Ray Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with Rev. Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow at Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11-1pm at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
