Kathryn Lynn Overmyer Carterville- Kathryn L. Overmyer, 63, of Carterville passed away at 12:57 AM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Herrin Hospital. According to Kathryn’s wishes she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held privately by her family. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family or sent C/O Blue Funeral Home, P.O. Box 411, Marion, IL, 62959. Kathryn was born on December 21, 1947 in Mattoon, IL to Paul & Edith Drake. She married Joel Edward Overmyer on August 14, 1965 in Champaign, IL; he preceded her on January 24, 2011. Survivors include her children, Tamara Overmyer of Carterville, Joel E. Overmyer, Jr. & wife Krista and James & Crystal Overmyer all of Marion, Jennifer & Lavern Green of Cypress, IL; son-in-law, Brandon Petkas; Thirteen Grandchildren; Two Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Robert Drake and David Drake; several nieces and nephews. Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joel; parents; daughter, Michelle Petkas and granddaughter, Lacy Marie Petkas. Kathryn was an employee at Norge for over 30 years. She loved to play bingo and take care of her family. Kathryn was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be missed.
