Jimmy J. Sears, 77, of Marion, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on November 3, 1948, in Vandalia, Illinois, the son of Herman and Emma (Monger) Sears.
Jimmy was the co-owner of the Marion Bowling Alley, where he spent many years doing what he loved most—being around bowling, sports, and people. He enjoyed bowling, working crossword puzzles, watching Cardinal baseball, and following just about any sport he could find on television. Jimmy was known for his gruff and grumpy ways, but those who knew him best understood it was all part of his charm—and behind it was a kind heart that cared deeply for the people he loved.
He is survived by his sons, Tobias (Tori) Sears and Tyler Sears; nephews, Kyle and Derek Wall; brother-in-law, Wade Wall; his dear friend, Tricia Smothers; along with great-nephews, a great-niece, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Marti Wall and Joyce Rentfro.
In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy will be cremated and no public services will be held.
Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Voyage Senior Living Activity Department 815 Mississippi Drive, Marion, Illinois 62959.
