Jimmy Lee Reynolds, 74, of Carrier Mills, IL passed away on his Dad’s birthday, peacefully in his home surrounded by his children and family on Oct. 19,2026.
Born on Oct. 29, 1951, in Watervliet, Michigan. Jimmy was the son of Lloyd “Jim” V. Reynolds, and Shirley M. (Owens) Reynolds.
Throughout his life, he was known as a very giving and loving father, brother, grandpa, uncle, pastor, friend, and one of the hardest-working men anyone could know.
Jim spent 10 years working in the Delta Amax Coal Mine before building his own business, Reynolds Excavating, in early 1993. Over several decades Jim became well known for his hard work, dedication, and pride in getting to just play in the dirt. Many of those years, he had the privilege of working side by side with his oldest son, Jimmy Jr. creating not only a successful business, but a lifetime of memories. Jim leaves behind a legacy of hard work in ALL of his children and grand children.
Jim had a passion for horses, that first began with his father, and was later passed down to his twin daughters. Who years later introduced that to his grandchildren. There was a true love in training and riding good horses that could run fast.
Above all else, nothing in this world meant more to Jim than his love for the Lord. In 1993, he answered God’s calling and began a ministry that would span 33 years. A devoted pastor at Coal Bank Springs, and a gifted teacher of God’s word. His faith was the very foundation of who he was. Nothing brought more joy than seeing someone give their heart to Jesus. He didn’t just preach God’s love, he lived it every day.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents; Lloyd “Jim” V. Reynolds and Shirley M. (Owens) Reynolds; his brother, John K. Reynolds; and his daughter, Myafaith “Joree” Reynolds.
He is survived by his greatest joys; his sons, Jimmy Lee Reynolds Jr. (Kim) of Stonefort, IL and Joseph R. Phillips (Amanda) of Richmond, Tx. His daughters, Charlee J. Reynolds and Kaylee M. Reynolds of Stonefort, IL.
Grandsons, Garrett Reynolds (Lexi) and Carson Phillips. Granddaughters MiKyla Reynolds, Abigail Phillips, another granddaughter due in February of 2027, and Great granddaughters Ella and Emma Reynolds.
Siblings; Deborah Hogg (Rod), Lisa Reynolds (Scott), Bill Reynolds (Dawn), Kerry Travelstead (Delmar).
Along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends.
His work here is done, and he is finally home with the Lord he served so dearly.
