Herrin- James E. Taylor, 82, of Herrin, died at 8:45 AM, Wednesday, August 6, 2003 at his home.
Jim was born on March 24, 1921 in Herrin to Edward N. & Nellie (Stewart) Taylor.  He worked as a boilermaker in Columbus, OH until his retirement.  He was a WWII Navy Veteran.  
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Herrin Eagles & the Herrin VFW and American Legion Posts.  He was of protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Robert & William Taylor, and five sisters; Hazel Johnson, Nellie & Betty Taylor, Esther Connell & Zena Kelley.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 203 at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin.  Rev. Don Colson will officiate.  Burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery in Carterville.  Military rites will be performed at the graveside by the Herrin VFW & American Legion Posts.  Visitation will be from 6-9:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
