James Arthur Starrick CARRIER MILLS-James Arthur Starrick, 75, of Carrier Mills went to be with the Lord at 1:03 PM, Saturday, May 26, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend John Howat and Reverend J. W. Merrell officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday evening by Marion Masonic Lodge 89 AF & AM. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery in Creal Springs. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children; envelopes are available at the funeral home. Mr. Starrick was born July 10, 1931 in Marion to Henry and Opal (Shanks) Starrick. He married Ruby Jones on November 10, 1950; the Lord blessed them with 56 years of marriage. Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Carrier Mills; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Starrick of Johnston City; granddaughters and husbands, Terra and Cayce Buckner of Crab Orchard and Tracy and Nicholas Griffey of Metropolis; great grandchildren, Aaron and Dakota Buckner; step-granddaughters and husbands, Jamie and Justin Ramert of Troy and April and Rodney Thacker of Carterville; step-great grandchildren, Josh and Brayden Thacker and Bridget Ramert; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin Dee and Sharon Starrick of Carrier Mills; niece and husband, Marlyne and Steve Clarida of Carrier Mills; great nephews, Zach and Josh; and many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; an infant daughter; and three brothers, Bill, Charles and Calvin Lee Starrick. Mr. Starrick was a member of Mt. Pleasant Free Will Baptist Church. He loved his church and enjoyed telling others about the Lord. He was a retired coal miner. He was a member of Porter Masonic Lodge 137 in Valparaiso, Indiana and the United Mine Worker’s of America. He enjoyed fishing with his good friend Bob Travelstead.
