Inez Thompson, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, at 9:20 a.m. at Deaconess Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Formerly of Creal Springs, Illinois, Inez was born on January 12, 1936, in Tunnel Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Raleigh Lenon and Mildred Webb.
Inez dedicated over 20 years of service to the Department of Motor Vehicles before retiring. She was well known for her caring spirit and generous heart, often spending her time baking for relatives and friends whenever they were sick or in need. She faithfully attended the Pentecostal church in Creal Springs, where she lovingly led the church choir for many years. She also greatly enjoyed traveling to Branson to attend music and theater shows, creating many treasured memories with family and friends.
On May 10, 1951, she married the love of her life, Denzel Thompson, in Piggott, Arkansas. Together they shared 72 wonderful years of marriage before his passing.
She is survived by her brother, John Tondini(Toula); her daughters, Barbara (David) Toler and Trish (Greg) Jennings; grandchildren, Brett Vinson (Melissa), Casey Restivo (Joseph), Tony Thompson, Brandon Jennings (Angela), Aaron Jennings (Rayna), and Todd Jennings (Lydia); 13 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Raleigh Lenon and Mildred Tondini; her beloved husband, Denzel Thompson; her son, Bobby Thompson; her brother, George Lenon; and her grandson, Mike Thompson.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Blue Funeral Home located at 1704 North Court Street, Marion. Funeral services will begin at noon with her grandson, Reverend Todd Jennings, officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
