Howard Dale Mezo

Howard Dale Mezo, age 81, passed away on February 1, 2026, at Deaconess Hospital of Illinois.

Howard was born to Lewis and Roxie (Hall) Mezo on January 25, 1945, in Zeigler, Illinois. He owned and operated an autobody shop for over 40 years.

He was a lifetime member of the Herrin Elks, a connection he valued deeply.

Howard is survived by his son, Mark (Misty) Mezo; his daughters, Cheryl (Richard) Jones and Pam (Rick) Forbes; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Mezo; his parents; and his brothers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Binkley-Ross Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at McKinney Chapel Cemetery, beginning at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Kevin McNeely officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Binkley-Ross Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses. Envelopes will be available at the graveside.
