Harry Gene Moore, age 94, of the Harrisburg area, passed away on July 8, 2025, at Herrin Hospital. Born on January 12, 1931, to the late Harry and Maude Taylor Moore. Harry Gene proudly served his country as a veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to education as a math and chemistry instructor at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg. Outside the classroom, he was an avid golfer and skilled woodworker, often crafting meaningful projects for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He especially cherished vacationing in Gulf Shores with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Kathy (Steve) Powell and Sara (Larry) Beal; his son, Mike Moore; and his grandchildren, Ben Beal, Kristin (Patrick) Horstmann, Megan (Ryan) Hill, and Jillian Powell. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Tucker and Libby Horstmann, and Ryder, Rieslyn, and Rhett Hill; and by his nephew, Steve (Cindy) Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Harrawood.
