Gilbert L. “Gil” Dalton MARION-Gilbert L. “Gil” Dalton, 77, of Marion passed away at 10:45 PM, Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2009 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with eulogy by David Schuey. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Gilbert was born July 30, 1932 in New Burnside to Robert and Bertha (Henderson) Dalton. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, June and George Schuey of St. Louis, Missouri; brother, Danny Dalton of Marion; six nieces; two nephews; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Dalton. Gilbert was of the catholic faith. He worked as a telegraph operator for Western Union and a dispatcher for T & T Holland. He was a member of the VFW Men’s Auxiliary in Creal Springs. He was a musician, he liked working in his yard and enjoyed his dogs, “Camellia” and “Peso”.
