Gayle Jones

Marion- Gayle Dianne Jones, 53, of Marion, died at 6:00 AM, Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Fountains Nursing Care Center in Marion. Gayle was born on June 21, 1951 in Champaign to Howard & Luella (Gates) Jones. They survive of Marion. Miss Jones has worked various jobs for Franklin-Williamson Human Services in West Frankfort since age twenty-one. Gayle enjoyed competition. As a result she has won numerous gold medals, at both the state and district level, in bowling, bocce ball, basketball and field events during the Special Olympics. Gayle enjoyed going to the riverboat with her family, playing her organ and harmonica, typewriting, attending the Mari-Egy Day Camp, collecting Coca-Cola products and participating in activities and games with her friends at the Marion Group Home. She was a past member of the Girl Scouts of America and a registered republican. SURVIVORS: Mother & Father- Howard & Luella Jones- Marion Brother & sister in law- Allan K. & Jackie Jones- Marion Brother & sister in law- Monte G. & Carol Jones- Marion Sister & brother in law- Terri & David Murphy- Marion Nieces & Nephews: Phillip & Paula Murphy- Avianne, Italy Matthew Murphy- Marion Wendie Johns- Marion Jeff & Kistin Lober- Marion Samantha & Mallory Jones- Marion Great Nieces & Nephews: Patrick Murphy Avianne, Italy Elair, Kaiden & Dennon Johns- Marion Kelsey & Kennedy Lober- Marion Gayle considered the staff and residents of the Marion Group Home her extended family. She was preceded in death by her nephew; Dane Johns. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Dr. Joey Brent will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service, Saturday at the funeral home.
