Marion Florence M. Smoot, 77 died Friday, August 29, 2003 at 5:28 A.M. at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Florence was born 11/16/1925 in Williamson County to John Henry & Mary (Zoeller) Fisher. Florence married Clarence Smoot in Jackson, Missouri on July 12, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2001. Florence formally worked for Peerless Cleaners and was a homemaker. Florence was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Marion and attended the First Church of God. Survivors include: 1 Son & daughter-in-law William & Debbie Smoot of Herrin 1 Daughter & son-in-law Mary Kathy & Sam Brookhouse of Marion. 4 Grandchildren Wendy & Rick Barnes Tracy Brookhouse Rachael Smoot and Ben Essey John Smoot and Danielle Wallace 3 Great Grandchildren 2 Brothers Henry & Madge Fisher of Marion Frank & Shirley Fisher of Marion 4 Sisters - Bessie Childers of Marion Pearl Miller of Marion Marjorie Richmond of Herrin Barbara & Ron Travelstead of Marion Preceded by parents, 6 brothers, Herman, Bennie, Bob, Ernest, Clarence, and Don Fisher. 2 sisters Kathryn Smith and Mae Fisher. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 31, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Bennie Don Fisher of Sherman, Illinois and Rev. Larry Richmond of OFallon, Illinois will be officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
