Emma Lou Garrison passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2026, at 7:15 in the morning, surrounded by love. Emma Lou was born March 31, 1942, and was the epitome of unconditional love. Her life was defined by her devotion to family, her compassion for others, and her unwavering kindness. She had a way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and cared for, and her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was a longtime member and past president of Delta Theta Tau sorority, where she built lifelong friendships and faithfully served her community. Emma Lou was also a longtime member and past president of the Marion Youth Baseball/Softball Association, dedicating countless hours to supporting local youth and their families. She was a longtime member of the Marion Carnegie library board and helped oversee the expansion of the library. Emma Lou was also a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church in Marion.
Emma Lou cherished time spent with loved ones, especially around the card table playing pinochle and gin with family and friends. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who faithfully rooted for her beloved team through every season.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Jerry Kobler; her husband, James T. Garrison; her brother, Freddy Dale Kobler and sister-in-law Kim Kobler.
Emma Lou leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughter, Tatia (Mitch) Strang; her son, Jared Garrison; her grandson, Jesse (Courtney) Strang; her granddaughter, Josie Strang; and her precious great-granddaughters, Gracelyn and Maggie. She is also survived by her siblings, Jerald Kobler, Carl Kobler, and Debbie (Kevin) Waldrop; along with several beloved nieces and nephews, including Rhett (Ashley) Kobler, Janell (Clayton) Litton, Justin (Ashley) Waldrop, Bryan (Jamie) Waldrop, and Trey (Kasey) Waldrop, as well as many other relatives and dear friends.
Emma Lou will be remembered for the extraordinary love she gave so freely, the strength and grace with which she lived, and the countless lives she touched along the way. Her legacy of unconditional love, generosity, and devotion to family and community will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Blue Funeral Home under the direction of Binkley-Ross. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 11:00 – 1:00 at Blue Funeral Home located at 1704 North Court Street in Marion. Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 P.M.
