Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Clark, age 61, of Dykersburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, surrounded by those she loved most.
Born on July 8, 1964, in Harrisburg, Illinois, Liz was the daughter of Jack Deering and Deanna Phillips. She earned her associate degree and held certification as a professional secretary. Liz dedicated nearly two decades of service to the courthouse, where she worked in both the coroner’s and assessor’s offices. As a deputy coroner, she served alongside three different coroners, bringing compassion and diligence to every case she touched.
Liz was a true go-getter, she cared deeply for others—whether through her work, her family, or her garden. She found joy in tending to her plants, spending time with her grandchildren, and doting on her beloved dog, Frankie. In her younger years, she loved to fish and embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm.
She is survived by her children: Kristy (Derek) Cole, Erin (Justin) Rentfro, and Kody McPheron; grandchildren: Hayden Cole, Karaleigh Clark, Koltyn McDonald, Liam McDonald; and step-grandchild, Daven Rentfro. Liz also leaves behind her siblings: Debbie (Keith) Hughes, Tony Derring, and Marty (Tracy) Deering; along with several nieces, cousins, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Deanna, and her cherished aunt, Junetta Simmons.
