Dwight L. Hill

Dwight L. Hill, age 82, of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 at Herrin Hospital.

Dwight was born February 15, 1941 in Marion, Illinois, a son of Jesse and Verne Lee (Dorn) Hill. Dwight grew up in Marion and graduated Marion High School in 1959. He earned a Bachelors Degree from University of Missouri at Rolla in Chemistry and Metalergy. He married Gage H. Piper on October 01, 1982 in Creal Springs, IL. Dwight worked as a Engineer for the IL Environmental Protection Agency. Dwight loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He is survived by his wife Gage H. Hill of Goreville, IL; one stepson, Steven T. (Elizabeth) Overturf of Duquoin, IL; and his step grandchildren, David (Delores) Overturf, Randy Overturf (Fiancee Destiny), and step great grandchildren Deanna, Olivia Charlotte and David Overturf, and one sister, Sharon (Darrell) Bruhn of Maryville, IL; He is preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Charety Holland and his parents, Jesse and Verne Lee Hill.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Keith Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.
