Dorris Frey

Dorris Frey, age 102, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at 7:15 a.m. in her home.

Dorris was born on February 27, 1918 in Carterville, Illinois, a daughter of Clyde and Seva (McBride) Roberts.  She married Don Frey on January 9, 1960 in Paducah, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1991.  Dorris was a homemaker and of the Apostolic faith.  She remained very active in church activities and was an excellent painter.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Patricia Barrell of Carbondale; brother, Kenneth (Delores) Roberts of Creal Springs; sister, Mary (Howard) Dixon of Carbondale; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Dorris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Frey; her son, Lindell E. Barrell; and two brothers, Lowell Roberts and Ray Roberts.

DUE TO HEALTH CONCERNS RELATED TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS AND BY THE SIGNING OF EXECUTIVE ORDER BY GOVERNOR J.B. PRITZKER, a private burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion.

Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with the arrangements.
