Danila Eseo Gold

Danila "Dannie" Eseo Gold, age 80, passed away on April 8, 2026, at Herrin Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.

Dannie was born on June 26, 1945, in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines, to Domingo and Francisca Eseo. She worked as a school teacher before moving to the United States, where she later held several positions at the hospital. She approached every role with dedication and kindness.

Dannie cherished the 15 wonderful years she shared with her husband, Don Gold. Their days together were filled with simple joys and a deep, steady love. She found peace in her garden, tending her flowers and caring for each bed with patience and pride. She loved creating handmade cards and playing the psaltery, sharing her creativity and gentle spirit through every note and every design. Her backyard, her music, and her crafts were the places where she felt most at home.

Her faith guided her throughout her life. She attended All Nations Church in Marion, participated in a women’s prayer group, and founded a ministry in the Philippines, Paradise of Love, reflecting her generous spirit.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her daughter, Michel Chavez (Guiller) Villanueva; Don’s daughter, Michele (Brad) Gold Swan and son, Steven Gold; her grandchildren, Guil, Gielledane, and Daniel Villanueva; Don’s granddaughter, Allison (Zack) Holmes; and Don’s great‑grandchildren, Jack and Everly Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Clenito Eseo Chavez; her grandson, Michh Dan Francis Chavez Villanueva; and her brothers, Bayani and Pedro Eseo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Binkley‑Ross Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Blue Funeral Home, 1704 North Court Street, Marion. A service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Rod Joplin officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Hall Cemetery, 650 Hall Church Road, Makanda, Illinois.
