Mulkeytown- Clyde D. Edwards, 61, of Mulkeytown, died at 5:00 PM, Saturday, November 21, 2002 at St. Louis University Hospital. Clyde was born on July 16, 1941 in Palzo, IL to Cecil Clyde & Mary Katheryn (Davis) Edwards. He married Jessie I. Cook on September 1, 1990 in Zeigler. She preceded him in death on September 4. Mr. Edwards was a US Navy Veteran during the Cold War. During his service time he flew the DEW line from Midway Island to Alaska. He retired from Old Ben #25 Mine, having worked as an electrician. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Royalton. In his spare time, Clyde enjoyed restoring old cars and John Deere tractors. He was a member of the United MineWorkers of America. Edwards- Marion Bro & sis in law- John & Sherry Edwards- De Soto Bro & sis in law- Joe & Tammy Edwards- Marion Sister- Fonda McBride- Nampa, ID Sis & bro in law- Margaret & Carl Pritchett- Marion Sister- Shelby Brown- Red Bud Sis & bro in law- Betty & Richard Kunz- Marion Sis & bro in law- Kathryn Darlene & Donald Cyr- Christopher Sister- Charlene Johnson- Christopher Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Sister in law- Tracy Edwards He was preceded in death by his father, wife, brother; Robert Ray (Rock) Edwards, Brother in law; Maurice E. Brown, grandfather; Herbert Edwards, & grandmother; Margaret Edwards. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 Am, Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. David Sorensen will officiate. Burial will follow at Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. The Marion VFW & American Legion Posts #1301 will perform military rites at the grave.
